Suddenly, we find ourselves in the middle of a pandemic. If you were used to meeting in person, you now need a new way to stay in touch with your family, coworkers, friends and community. In this tutorial, find out how to use Zoom Meetings to stay connected while practicing social distancing.
Get ready to laugh and learn with Joan Gregerson, Founder Green Team Academy during a live Zoom Meeting to demonstrate how to use Zoom Meetings!
Please, share this. We haven't faced any isolation like this ever in human history at this scale. Zoom is a tool that helps us beat that isolation, and feel the love and caring that we all need. I love the hashtag: #togetherathome.
Note: This is a beginner's guide to getting going with Zoom. If you're already comfortable running online meetings and using Zoom, this won't be for you.

On March 20, 2020, 25 or so of us piled onto a Zoom Meeting. I got mixed up here and there, and everyone on the call worked together to help out. I later went back and recorded a few tips and tricks that had tripped us up in the live session.
We laughed and enjoyed the experience. That's what this is all about. Put yourself out there and push past the limits of what you think you can do. If you get stuck, ask someone, use the Zoom help or google it. It's figureoutable, as Marie Forleo says.
Here's what's in this podcast:
- How to test your audio settings
- How to set up a meeting
- How to use the free or paid version
- The difference between Zoom Meetings and Zoom Webinars
- How to use breakout rooms (it stopped recording when we were in those but you can see how easy it is to set them up)
Here are a few takeaways and tweetables from the tutorial:
Don't expect the tech to work perfectly! It's all about love, connection and caring. Meeting by Zoom can help you do all that.
Zoom Meetings gives you "Brady Bunch" style where you can see everyone's faces. If you don't want that, go for Zoom Webinars, WebinarJam or other webinar platform.
One of the best features of Zoom is that people can join by dialing in, by the app on their phone or desktop!
Using Zoom but you can't hear the other person or they can't hear you? Just type in the chat:
Click on the up arrow next to the microphone icon.
Then click 'Test Your Audio Settings'.
There are tons of ways to customize your meetings! Go into 'Settings' in your account on desktop.
Can't find the 'chat' option in Zoom on mobile? You're not alone. It's hidden! Click under "Participants", then Chat.
Frustrated because the Zoom controls keep disappearing? There's a shortcut for that! Alt-A: mute/unmute. Alt-S: share your screen. And more!
