In 2019, over 20 Metro Denver teams got together to make a difference!
Welcome to the home of the 2019 Green Team Accelerator Lab!
The Lab is a year-long incubator to help individuals across Metro Denver make a positive eco-impact by starting and growing thriving Green Teams! The Lab is facilitated by Joan Gregerson of Green Team Academy with support from city and nonprofit partners.

The mission of the Green Team Accelerator Lab is to demonstrate how a year-long program can help individuals make a positive impact on the environment in their communities, including schools, neighborhoods, faith communities, businesses and anywhere people gather!
Through our pilot program, share lessons learned and encourage others to implement a similar program to help sustainability go viral!
- Train individuals to become confident, effective Green Team leaders.
- Connect teams to other teams and partners to help them make a bigger impact faster.
- Help Green Teams attract more members and partners.
- Showcase existing sustainability sites and projects to demonstrate success.
- Help teams implement projects and initiatives.
- Document team results through written project profiles and videos.
- Share lessons learned and results with decision makers
The idea for the Accelerator Lab came in November 2019. How can we build off the success of existing models like the Sustainable Neighborhoods Network and Certifiably Green Denver to offer a no-cost grassroots eco-leadership opportunity? How can we get sustainability to go viral? Those questions spurred the pilot project called the Green Team Accelerator Lab!
How the 2019 Accelerator Lab Works
The Green Team Accelerator Lab started with an application period beginning in December 2018. A total of 22 teams were accepted to the Lab to begin in 2019.
The Lab kicked off in January 2019. We meet monthly for training, introduction to resources, and tours. Lab members are building connections with other teams, as well as nonprofits and city departments. Lab members are collaborating on join projects including the Denver Compost Challenge.
The 2019 Lab ends with a commencement celebration on November 9, 2019 to summarize lessons learned, showcase results and discuss next steps.
